The Challenge

Pavers are a family run shoe retailer with over 100 stores across the UK. They also have strong sustainability practices and have recently become entirely carbon neutral as a business, partnering with One Carbon World to offset their carbon.

As part of this commitment, Pavers were keen to offset the emissions produced by the postage of their marketing materials, and so came to Enviromail to see if we could help.

The Solution

We advised Pavers to test a paperwrap against naked mailing to provide a significant overall cost saving, before calculating the carbon footprint of the postage, and offsetting twice that amount for free.

Mailing volumes and postage data were entered into our CO2 calculator which accurately calculates distribution and postage carbon.

Enviromail fully handles the procurement, distribution and offsetting of the project with details passed back to Pavers to help with their own carbon audit.

The Result

At the end of the project, we offset twice the distribution carbon equivalent through thoroughly worthwhile and fully accredited climate projects at Climate Partner (more information here).

The results show exactly how any organisation who uses direct mail or door drop can easily make a positive climate contribution.

Through product re-engineering our consultants managed to help Pavers realise a considerable saving over their previous mailing format too.

This single project resulted in a net climate positive contribution of 1276 Kg of carbon dioxide equivalent which will not only help combat climate change but also positively contribute to the lives of many of the people involved in the projects.
